In an extraordinary collaboration between Apollinaire Theatre Company, Teatro Chelsea, and the City of Chelsea, audiences are invited to experience a groundbreaking production of Aeschylus's "The Suppliant Women."

This bilingual adaptation, directed by Danielle Fauteux Jacques and featuring a score by John Browne, promises to be a highlight of the summer theater season.

A TIMELESS TALE

"The Suppliant Women" is a timeless tale that resonates powerfully in today's world. The story follows a group of women fleeing forced marriage in North Africa, seeking refuge and asylum in Greece. This ancient play, written over 2,500 years ago, explores fundamental questions of humanity, such as identity, belonging, and the responsibility of societies to protect the vulnerable.

INNOVATION

What sets this production apart is its innovative approach to storytelling. The traditional Chorus takes center stage, expressing themselves through song and movement, accompanied by the haunting sounds of the aulos, an ancient double-barreled oboe.

The music, arranged by David Reiffel, adds a powerful layer of emotion to the performance. The cast is led by Paola Ferrer as Danaos, Brooks Reeves as The King, and Chorus Leaders Parker Jennings, Pearl Scott, and Charleen AndΓΊjar, who make their Apollinaire debuts. The ensemble features a diverse group of actors who bring passion and authenticity to their roles.
