Experience the Enchanting World of "One-Handed Witch" 🧙 at Old Town Hall, Salem

One-Handed Witch
Old Town Hall in Salem
August 16 & 17

Ready for a spellbinding evening filled with shadows, music, and magic? Look no further than "One-Handed Witch," the award-winning silent film with shadow puppets and live musical score performed by a band of witches.

This amazing show is making its East Coast premiere at the historic Old Town Hall in Salem from August 16-17.

Written, directed, and scored by the acclaimed circus composer Samson Y Hiss, "One-Handed Witch" tells the chilling tale of a fiery witch who loses her hand to an angry mob. Undeterred, she tames wild beasts in the forest and starts hustling small town folk and casinos out of all their money, with just one hand. This silent film of savagery and survival is sure to leave you on the edge of your seat.

What sets this experience apart is the live musical score performed by Samson Y Hiss and Paul Dab. Samson's unorthodox score utilizes a variety of instruments, including electric organ, toy piano, turntable, and even a kitchen sink, creating a striking and discordant soundscape that perfectly complements the film.

The shadow puppets and film were created by filmmakers and shadow artists Rita Deiola and Sara Draghi in Italy, who brought the world of the film to life with light and shadow. The result is a truly immersive and unforgettable experience. But that's not all! Each performance features a cool and unique opening act.

On August 16, be mesmerized by Rob Rudin's Washboard Jumble, and on August 17, prepare to be enchanted by the clarinet skills of Chasity Thompson from the New England Conservatory.
